So this is my foray

by Bryan Strawser · Jan 14, 2002

So this is my foray in trying out Radio Userland 8.0.  I’ll admit up front that I’ve wanted to try out the web logging thing for quite some time.  I’ve been a long time read of Doc’s Weblog and Adam’s Weblog and even Wil Wheaton’s weblog.

I started out trying Manila at feanor.weblogs.com, but that simply didn’t work out.  I finally figured out what all the fuss was about with Radio Userland.  Quite an impressive piece of software.

I’m still learning, stay tuned….

I am getting more excited

by Bryan Strawser · Jan 14, 2002

I am getting more excited than I probably should about owning a DVD Player.  I received the Godfather Special Edition DVD set for Christmas from some of my family, and have been racking up the “wish list” on amazon ever since.  Here’s another one that I want:

Took a look at this

by Bryan Strawser · Jan 14, 2002

Took a look at this tonight, quite impressive.  Am fiddling with the news aggregator feeds available for Radio Userland.  I’m impressed!

NewsIsFree, which I wrote about yesterday, produces lots of feeds, in RSS. [Scripting News]

by Bryan Strawser · Jan 14, 2002

If you’re a follower of Massachusetts politics, as I must be due to where I live, then you’ve been following the involvement of the Massachusetts Attorney General in the sale of the Boston Red Sox.

I’m still trying to figure out the Attorney General’s role in the sale of a private enterprise, but then again, he’s a politician, so why bother?

My boss has this rather

by Bryan Strawser · Jan 14, 2002

My boss has this rather entertianing habit of creating words, or just plain screwing words up, fairly regularly.  All of my peers find this rather entertianing..  so when one of my peers sent me the information on the Dictionary.com word of the day, I couldn’t resist:

pusillanimous: Dictionary.com Word of the Day. pusillanimous [Dictionary.com Word of the Day]

I send these to him regularly now! 😉

DEA outlaws hemp food products.

by Bryan Strawser · Jan 14, 2002

DEA outlaws hemp food products. The Washington Post reports that the DEA has sunk another notch in its war on drugs. The order? No hemp in food. Despite having only trace amounts of THC (the active ingredient in marijuana), the DEA has ordered all hemp food products off the shelf. Quote: “This is from the same administration that says it’s okay to have more arsenic in water than it is to have hemp in cereal.” The DEA defended the decision by stating that they are required by law to ban anything containing THC (no matter the amount). Bagels to be banned next? [kuro5hin.org]

Did we really expect anything else from our ongoing war on drugs?  I mean, come on!
