Chief Warrant Officer Chris Campbell
I went to high school and met a great guy named Chris Campbell. We were very close friends, even fighting once over the same girl, and nearly losing our friendship. But life perseveres.
Tonight, for some reason, I wondered what had become of him. Because, as is so often the case, we lose track of our friend after high school. I knew Chris had joined the US Marines and had gotten married, but other than that, I had no idea where he was.
A good google search led me to this news article from Navy News:

Campbell was wounded in the arm by shrapnel during a battle at Nasiriyah, Iraq, March 26. He was treated in Kuwait before being transferred to Fleet Hospital (FH) 8 in Rota April 5.
Before leaving Kuwait, Campbell was awarded the Purple Heart by Marine Lt. Gen. E.B. Haliston, commander, U.S. Marine Corps Pacific. The Purple Heart is awarded to any member of the U.S. Armed Forces killed or wounded in an armed conflict.
Sure looks like Chris in that picture. And I had no idea he was in harm's way.
Semper Fi, Chris

Bryan,
Yes, this is Chris that lived around Muncie - I know him from Ball State and was able to contact him shortly after this happened when he was waiting to come home. Unfortunately, I have been unsuccessful in getting in touch with him since then.
Last time I talked to him, he was still married and had beautiful little girl (met her - so cute!) and I believe a little boy as well.
If you ever hear/find more information about Chris, I'd love to hear from you!

Oh my God, I have been thinking about Chris and I just know that he was fighting in Iraq. I went to BSU and even dated Chris. We ended on a good note but we totally have lost track of one another. I know that he was happily married and had a child but did not know that his family had grown so. Good for them. I always knew Chris was meant to be a family man and a good father. I would like to send him well wishes and my thanks for protecting us all so if you have any info on how to get a hold of him or how to send something to him and his family I would so appreciate it.
Thank God he is going to be okay.
Thank you,
Beth Scott
