Sgt. Hook is Back

After about ten months of hiatus, Sgt Hook is back:

Damn, it’s good to be back. It looks like I’ll have to clean the place up a bit, dust, sweep, and maybe make some repairs, but it sure does feel comfortable in here. Almost like sitting in an old worn leather recliner. I’ll ask your patience as I find myself re-learning the art of blogging both creatively and technically (not that I had previously mastered either) so if you notice a broken link, a typo, or anything nonsensical feel free to dress me down and set me straight.

Ernie Staying in New Orleans

I’ve been a long-time reader of Ernie the Attorney. He posted earlier this week that he was staying in New Orleans due to being unable to get out of town.

My thoughts are with him and the others in New Orleans this morning — looking forward to his next post showing that he is safe and sound…

Normandy

John over at Castle Arggghhh visited Normandy recently.

Check out his post and pictures here. In particularly, there’s a photo of Pointe du Hoc taken from the side of the cliff the Rangers scaled on D-Day - it really shows the scale and sheer challenge that the Rangers were faced with.. but climb they did.

I’m hoping to get there soon. Looks like Hawaii first though…

Real Blogging

I write this blog for myself - not for anyone else - and therefore choose to write about what interests me, when it interests me..

Actor Wil Wheaton has a great post up about his own encounter with trying to keep his blogging “real” and stay focused on what he’s doing in the rest of his life.

It’s a great perspective on blogging and life balance….

Bill Whittle, Again

And by the way, has it not occurred to anyone that during the years since 9/11 there has not been a single terrorist attack on the United States? Do you think they simply stopped trying? Or have we been winning a secret war of information in dark rooms in Langley, Virginia? How many failed attempts have there been to kill you and your family in the past four years? Two? Twenty? One Hundred?

and more….

As you sit here reading this, there are men and women working around the clock using information obtained – not just without torture, but humanely – to keep us safe at night. They do this without any recognition or fanfare. But there are no less than ten televised award shows each year honoring those who do the best job at playing make-believe, and more often than not, the heroes they pretend to be are the soldiers and intelligence agents and policemen they so spectacularly spit upon the second the camera stops rolling.

We worship the wrong people.

Indeed, we do. Indeed, we do.
