Red Sox Rookie throws a no-hitter

Clay Buchholz achieved every little boy’s dream last night - used his gifted arm while surrounded by an equally gifted team - to achieve one of the toughest goals in Major League Baseball:

It was a night dripping with fate, fame, and circumstance.

Clay Buchholz wasn’t even supposed to pitch at Fenway Park last night. He had only one game of big league experience under his belt and he was still in the minor leagues Friday.

And then last night, he was back in the Show, pitching a 10-0 no-hitter against the Baltimore Orioles in his second start in the big leagues. At the age of 23. And he told us, “This is what you dream about growing up.”

Eight years after I first fell in love with the team, and a move 1400 miles away to the frigid tundra of Minnesota, I’m still a member of Red Sox Nation

Being a Serious Fan

Living in Boston nearly forces one to fall in love with the local sports teams. While I never became a serious Boston Bruins fan or New England Patriots fan, I am a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox.

They were taken out of the playoffs yesterday - swept by the Chicago White Sox. And I never watched a game.

I attribute this fact as the reason that they lost and have resolved myself to being a more serious fan in 2006. So today, I wear my Boston Red Sox shirt with pride here in Minnesota Twins country!

As it should be…

The greatest rivalry in Major League Baseball is down to two games - it’s the fight for the American League East Championship.

Boston and New York are all tied up.

With two games to go…

At Boston’s Fenway Park.

GO SOX!

It’s Over

Back in January, I accepted a promotion to a position in Minneapolis with the understanding that I would be commuting there until the fall when the sidekick was finished with Graduate School.

And so seven months later, we’re almost to the end point.

On Wednesday, the movers come to pack. Thursday, they load the truck. Friday, I set out with Galadriel for Woodbury, Minnesota with an overnight stop in Toledo, Ohio. Fun.

Enjoy the Silence

Moving in a week and a half 1400 miles from Boston to Minnesota. Just wrapped up a major remodel in my area of responsibility at work. Arranging insurance, parking in downtown Minneapolis, and all of those fun things….

Movers come in a week to pack, then load, then I set off on a 1400 mile drive with the cat. Why? Trying to fly with her would be worse…

Still biking - 49 miles this weekend and twelve miles yesterday despite a funky handlebar riser. To Houston the next two days then home to await the movers.

More soon, I hope…
